Staff who feel able to contribute.
People understand how to take an idea forward and know where to find support.
Why HealthIMPROVE
HealthIMPROVE exists because making care better should feel possible to the people closest to it.
They see them every day: a delay that could be avoided, a process that makes work harder, an experience that could be better for someone receiving care.
But recognising an opportunity and being able to act on it are different things. People need a way into the work, help when it gets difficult and confidence that someone will listen to what they learn.
Our purpose is to help close that gap. We want more staff to feel that improvement belongs to them, with an organisation around them that helps it happen.
The question behind the business
Daniel’s experience of building and leading improvement functions brought local delivery and organisational leadership into the same picture.
A project needs practical support. Leaders need to understand its contribution. Other teams need a way to learn from it. Treating those as connected questions is central to HealthIMPROVE.
It led us to ask: what would improvement look like if we designed the approach around healthcare’s people, pressures and relationships from the start?
A practical ambition that can begin with one piece of work.
People understand how to take an idea forward and know where to find support.
Local work connects with organisational priorities and evidence helps inform decisions.
Teams share what they discover, giving others a useful starting point for their own context.

HealthIMPROVE Workspace
In developmentA framework becomes useful when people feel able to use it.
We’re bringing the IMPROVE Model, practical support and shared learning into one online workspace. Explore how it is designed to help your teams deliver improvement and your organisation support it.
The IMPROVE Model
The Workspace brings the IMPROVE Model into everyday practice, with guidance and practical tools that help people get started and keep moving. Teams can see their progress and understand where to focus next.
A connected project journey keeps the thinking, evidence and learning together. It supports a consistent organisational approach while leaving room for each team’s circumstances.
Support teams to test ideas, learn from experience and adapt their approach, with guidance available along the way.
Keep ownership and follow-through in view, so useful changes have a stronger foundation for everyday practice.
Guidance that helps people build confidence.
A shared understanding of the project.
Experience your team can carry forward.
People, risks & reviews
A shared view of the work helps everyone understand their contribution. Teams can keep responsibilities and decisions clear, while managers and reviewers have the information they need to offer support.
Structured review and electronic approval help connect frontline work with organisational governance. The reasoning behind decisions remains part of the project’s story.
Built-in risk management helps teams consider the consequences of change and keep safeguards visible as the work develops.
Organisation boundaries and role-based access support collaboration. Each person sees the project and service areas relevant to their involvement.
Bring people and evidence into the same conversation.
Help people understand their contribution.
Keep risks and safeguards in view.
Measures & SPC
Measurement should help people make decisions. Guided setup takes some of the uncertainty out of choosing measures and charts, while visual explanations help teams understand what their data is telling them.
Statistical process control (SPC) helps distinguish routine variation from patterns worth investigating. Clear markers and plain-language interpretation make those patterns easier to explore.
An approachable view supports people who are new to data. Deeper analysis is available for those with more statistical experience.
Bring data together with people’s experience and the wider effects of a change when considering whether it has helped.
A pattern worth exploring

Clear visual explanations help teams explore what has changed and what it could mean for their service.
Illustration only. A pattern prompts investigation; it does not prove improvement.
Progress & reporting
Dashboards connect day-to-day project work with the wider organisational picture. Teams and leaders can see progress, identify work needing attention and look more closely at the detail.
Flexible reporting brings project information, evidence and charts together in a coherent account for colleagues, sponsors and governance groups.
Make it easier to spot where a decision, conversation or additional support could help a team move forward.
Create designed PDF reports from project records, with content suited to the audience and the discussion ahead.
Learning Exchange
The Learning Exchange gives approved stories from participating organisations a shared home. Team stories, photographs and practical reflections bring the work to life and recognise the people behind it.
Discover relevant experiences, save useful learning and consider what could help in your own setting. Another team’s experience can become a starting point for a better-informed conversation.
Give teams a way to recognise their work and share what they learnt, including when a change did not have the expected result.
Organisations approve the learning they share. Their private project records remain separate from published stories.
Understand the experience behind a story.
Give their contribution a wider audience.
Private project records stay separate from approved shared learning.
