One approach to work from.
Licensed access to the full seven-stage model gives staff, improvement leads and leaders a common approach to the work.
IMPROVE™ is our new seven-stage improvement model for health and social care. It gives people a structured approach to making care better, with training, tools and support to help them use it.
Imagine more of your staff knowing where to start, who to involve and how to judge whether a change is helping. That’s the ambition behind IMPROVE.
Shaped by the realities of improvement
You can leave a training session with plenty of ideas and still find it difficult to get started. Once the work begins, questions arise: are we tackling the right problem? What does the evidence tell us? Who can help when we get stuck?
Our experience of building improvement functions and working with teams has shown us how much the support around people matters. Staff need an approach they can understand, opportunities to practise and someone to turn to when the work gets difficult.
We developed IMPROVE to bring these elements together: a structured model, practical training and ongoing support that helps people apply it to the challenges in their own services.
The model. The skills. The support.
The HealthIMPROVE Partnership gives you access to the model and help putting it to work.
Licensed access to the full seven-stage model gives staff, improvement leads and leaders a common approach to the work.
Training explains how to use the model, while tools, templates and guidance help staff apply what they learn and develop the skills to make changes safely.
We help you introduce the approach and coach staff as they use it, with time to discuss difficulties and work out what to do next.
The Partnership sets out the resources, training, organisational coverage and support included.
Built around your work
A recurring delay. A process that frustrates staff. A change that needs several teams to work together.
IMPROVE is designed for different improvement challenges. The planning, expertise and oversight needed will depend on the change you want to make.
We start by talking through your priorities and how you support improvement today. Then we agree who needs training, who will support them and where they can start applying the model.
As the work develops, we help staff make sense of their findings and decide what to explore next. Local approvals and decisions about care remain with your organisation.
If you have improvement specialists, we work with them. We also agree how the approach fits with your existing responsibilities, clinical and corporate governance and risk management.
See how the Partnership worksThe ambition behind IMPROVE
When a team discovers something useful, that learning deserves to go further. Another service may face a similar challenge, or have an idea that takes the work in a new direction.
Our ambition is to help more people take part in improvement and make it easier for teams to learn from each other. IMPROVE is new, so we agree what progress should look like with you and review the evidence as the work develops.
Tell us what you’d like to improve. We’ll talk through whether IMPROVE is a good fit and what your people would need to get started.
