Quality and Patient Safety Improvement
Our story
HealthIMPROVE grew from a simple observation: the way we organise improvement can make a real difference to what people are able to achieve.

Daniel King
“Imagine what we could achieve together if everyone with an idea for better care had the support and tools to make it happen.”
Across NHS and independent healthcare roles, I’ve worked with boards, senior leaders and local teams to connect organisational ambition with practical delivery.
HealthIMPROVE brings that experience together with a bigger ambition: making improvement more approachable, more connected and more useful to the people delivering care.
Examples from Daniel’s previous employment, recognising the contribution of colleagues and teams.
I established an organisation-wide improvement function for a national provider with over 150 sites, bringing improvement strategy, governance, programme development and team leadership together. Teams completed more than 100 improvement projects in three years within the programme I helped build.
I developed steering-group arrangements, policies and performance reporting, alongside structures for teams to share project findings. This connected strategic priorities with local delivery and supported teams to consider, adapt and assess effective changes from elsewhere.
I developed service-user-led improvement training and co-produced projects, bringing professional expertise and lived experience together to improve services. The training equipped people receiving care to take an active role in shaping their services, including becoming project leads and leading their own improvement projects with staff support.
The experience behind the approach
My experience spans patient safety, clinical and corporate governance and risk management, alongside building and leading improvement functions.
Working across these areas has shaped how I see improvement: understanding where care needs to change, helping people act on that knowledge and giving leaders a clear basis for oversight and learning.
I’ve worked with boards, senior leaders and local teams to connect strategic direction with practical delivery. That means considering the structures around the work as well as the support staff need to carry it through.
It is this combination of practical experience and formal development that led me to question how improvement could work better—and to develop HealthIMPROVE around making it more approachable, connected and useful.

A roadmap for connected improvement
Imagine a team finding an insight that helps another service ask a better question. Or two organisations discovering they could work on a shared challenge together. That’s the kind of connection we want HealthIMPROVE to make possible.
Our work with teams and organisational partners is the starting point for a wider ambition: shared learning and a connected improvement network. We’re inviting people with practical challenges and an appetite to collaborate to help shape that direction.
Support from idea to delivery, Improvement System Reviews and organisational partnerships to embed the HealthIMPROVE approach.
Develop shared resources and opportunities for teams to exchange insights, with their agreement.
Bring people and organisations together to explore shared challenges and develop ideas across the system.
You might need support with one service today. You might see an opportunity to connect work across organisations. Bring either conversation to us. We’ll explore what we can do now and where we could build something together.
Help shape what comes nextPut that experience to work
Whether you need help with a particular challenge or want to strengthen improvement across your organisation, the starting point is a conversation about your context.
